Cameron's ears!

Cameron had his tubes put in his ears on Tuesday! He did a great job and was a very good boy! There were many other kids there for similar procedures, and some were running away from their parents, screaming and crying, weren't co-operative, etc.... Not Cameron! However, we had to be there at 6:30am and the surgery was scheduled for about 8:00. He sat quietly on our laps in the waiting room. He let us put the flannel pants and top on him in the pre-op room (which was pink and covered in lot's of animals)! He sat still when the nurses checked his heart rate and listened to his chest, etc... He quietly played on the bed and was just overall, a very, very good boy!

We had talked about him being taken to the back by the nice nurses so the Dr. could fix his ears! The anesthesiologist gave him a strawberry scented gas mask to hold an play with right before they took him back! He loved that thing! When it was time for them to take him back, we had him sit on the bed and "go for a ride"! He hardly paid any attention to us as they took him away! We couldn't help but laugh!

We waited in the waiting room for about 20 minutes and then the Dr. came out and told us that he did great and the surgery was over! He was in recovery and they would come get us in about 5 minutes!

Then we were taken back and he was being rocked by a nurse and he was still very groggy. I took him immediately into my arms and held him close. He seemed very confused and kept moving his blankie around in his hands. We tried to get him to drink some juice and have some applesauce, but he would take much at all. After a few minutes, he put his head on my chest and zonked out! We just sat there and I rubbed his back for about 15-20 minutes. Then we tried to wake him up and change him back into his clothes. The poor thing was like a ragdoll! He was just flopping his head and body down on my lap! He was sooooooo tired! Eventually, we got him to wake up and drink a bit more juice. Then we loaded him up and went to the pharmacy to get his eardrops. He was back to his normal, rambunctious, getting-into-trouble self!!!

He seems to be doing well and I think he is talking more. However, he HATES, the eardrops. He literally screams when we have to put them in his ears. I feel really bad having to do it.

Well, that is the update! Just wanted to let you all know!

TTFN!

If I wasn't busy already....

.... I had to add one more thing to my list of things to do! I have signed up to be a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant! My main reason is that I would like to find some additional income to help us make ends meet. Since we still haven't sold our Battle Ground house, money has been very tight for the last 1 1/2 years now. So I have been thinking for a while about how I can make some extra money. This opportunity recently came about and I just signed up this morning! I should get my training materials and samples in the next 2 weeks and should be able to start selling shortly after! If I have your email address and/or phone number, don't be surprised if you hear from me soon! I'd like to have some or all of you schedule a pampering session with me and have you invite a few friends along! I look forward to seeing many of you soon and appreciate your help with my new business!

My Mary Kay email address is jennifercaine@marykay.com and my personal website is:

Cameron's ears & a wonderful surprise!

First, we had Cameron's appointment yesterday with the ENT. It went very well, however, Bryan had to leave the room because Daniel kept trying to get into things! So I discussed Cameron with the Dr. He said that Cameron has a hearing loss of 5 decipal's in his right ear and 20 decipal's in his left ear. Which he said is significant and would seem like Cameron has an ear plug in his ear and sounds would be muffled on that side. He said he has quite a lot of fluid in the ear and it is very, very thick. The options would be to wait and see if it goes away on it's own, try a saline solution to loosen it up, or do the tubes in his ears. He said that the fluid is extremely thick (like snot) and probably will not come out on it's own and the saline solution would also probably not work because of how thick it is. So we decided to do tubes in the ears. He said he would do both ears, in case he runs in to issues with the right one in the future, we wouldn't have to have the procedure done again. The procedure takes about 10 minutes, and he would be given gas to knock him out. Once the procedure is over, he would recover in about 30-60 minutes and then we would take him home. It will be done at the surgical center at Southwest Washington Medical Center. Not sure when yet. I left a message with the scheduler yesterday. But we will try to schedule it as soon as possible. The Dr. said he should notice a huge difference after the procedure and he should hear much better! Which should also help him with his speech, which we are most concerned about. I will let you know when we get the appointment scheduled!

And Thursday morning was surprising for me and Bryan! I bought Bryan a sweet card on Tuesday night, just to tell him I love him! I filled it out Wednesday night and was going to put it in the bathroom so that when he woke up, he would find it on the counter! I tucked it in a bathroom drawer to pull out in the morning before I left for work. When I woke up Thursday morning, I go into the bathroom and find a card on the counter....for me! I took a double-take, and then opened the card! It was the EXACT SAME CARD that I bought for Bryan! He said some very sweet things and made me cry a little! Before I left, Bryan woke up. So I asked him why he bought the card! (I thought be may have seen my card to him, and then bought the same one). I then handed him his card from me! When he opened it up, he started laughing that we both bought the EXACT SAME CARD, to give to each other on the EXACT SAME DAY!!! He asked me why I bought my card. I got teary-eyed again and told him that we had lost too many people lately and I wanted him to know how much I love him! He said his reason is that he kept driving by Bill's house and couldn't help but think of him being alone. (I'll explain that below in a minute). He wanted me to also know how much he loves me. AAAAHHHH!!! I told a friend at work about our little "coincidence" and I like what she said! "WOW! You guys really are soul mates!" I totally agree!!!

So, I hadn't posted what has recently happened in our lives. February 4th was not a very good day at all. I received a phone call at 5:30am from my mom that Kasey Radford passed away. He was an 11 year old boy that had been fighting Glioblastoma, brain cancer, for 3 years. He had a brain bleed and passed away that morning. We all knew it was coming, but it still doesn't make it any easier. We had grown close to the Radford family and grew to love Kasey over the last 3 years. All I can say is, hold your children close and hug them 10 times longer.

Later that day, I received a phone call about 5:30 and was told that one of my co-workers had gone home and laid down to take a nap. She passed away in her sleep! Sue Colvin was 61 years old and she was a sweet lady who I will miss dearly. What breaks my heart most is that her and her husband were inseperable and so obviously in love. I have seen Bill many times since Sue passed away, and he is just so very sad. I feel horrible that he is home by himself and I am worried about how he is doing. He came to our bowling fundraiser on Saturday night, but he just seemed so sad. As he went to leave, I gave him a hug and thanked him for coming. He said it is so hard leaving the house without Sue. And then he said he hopes that I never have to go through what he is going through. Needless to say, I started bawling. He left and Bryan gave me a hug. Please keep Bill and Kasey's family in your prayers. If I am having a hard time with the loss of these two wonderful people, I can't even imagine how hard it is for their familes.

Well, I will let you all go, now that I've talked your ear off! Have a wonderful day and I want all of you to know that I love you!

Surprise pics for Mommy & Daddy!

My parents had the boys today and disappeared with them for a few hours! When they came home, they gave me a CD of pictures! They went to Walmart and had the boys pictures taken! It has been a while since we last had them done, so it was wonderful to see the adorable pictures! Mom said that the photographer was AWESOME and worked for 2 hours taking pics and then customizing them with shading, sizing, collages, etc... Thank you!!! Here are some of the best pictures! I can't believe how big they are getting!!!! I don't have babies anymore! I have big boys! :-(

150% BOYS!

So I was giving the boys a bath on Monday night! When they were done, I took Cameron out and dried him off. I notice that Daniel is trying to turn on the hot water in the tub, so I turn to him to stop him. As I turn back to Cameron, I see that he is looking "down" and peeing on the bathtub and bath mat!!! Little stinker! So I plop him on the pottie and get Daniel out of the tub and dry him off.

My mom showed up with little BVD's (aka. "tighty-whitey's) and we call them "Daddy pants". She was having them wear them yesterday and hope they would notice when they wet themselves and encourage keeping them dry. It didn't work that great since they were refusing to go potty when we tried to take them and Daniel wet 2 pair and Cameron 1 pair. We'll try again soon. I still can't get them to tell us when they have to go potty! Hmmmm.... Any suggestions welcome! I need them potty-trained by September when they should start going to pre-school.

The boys helped me make cupcakes last night and then they each got to frost and put sprinkles on their own cupcake! Devils Food cake mix for the cupcake and chocolate frosting! Yummy!
They are very helpful in the kitchen by helping pour the oil and water and cracking eggs! Then they take turns helping hold the beaters while we mix it. Then they get to lick the beaters! They were covered in chocolate when they were done, but they had fun!

My mom also helped me get the boys armoire and closet cleaned out and organized. She pulled all the clothes out that they don't fit in to anymore and we pulled clothes out of the closet storage bins that they can start wearing. It was so funny to pull out pants that are 18mo, 24mo or 2T that fit the boys length-wise, but not around the waist. They are tiny little boys with no bellies and the pants just fall off of them! Other 18mo or 24mo pants that do fit their waists, are too short for them! Mom is going to try and sew the backs of the pants at the waist so they will fit the boys. When they start to get bellies, we can let them out. We'll see if it works! It is just so hard to find pants that fit them!

We take Cameron to the ENT (Ear, Nose & Throat) Dr tomorrow at 1:30 to discuss tubes for him. We will see if he still has fluid in the ears and maybe make a decision about what we will do. I personally think that the fluid is still there and I think it is affecting his speech. We know it is affecting his hearing. I'll let you know what we find out.

Well, I'll talk to you all later! Lot's of love to all of you from Caine family!

Fun at Grandma & Grandpa's house!

Our bowling event went great! We filled the alley's and even had to turn people away at the door! We ended up making $230!!!! WOOOHOO!!!!! We had tons of fun! Bryan and I bowled 3 games, however, his shoulder and arm are bothering him quite a bit today. Guess he's just getting old since he is 31 now! Thank you to those of you that came! Hope you had fun!

Grandma Teri emailed some recent pics of the boys at their house and I thought you would enjoy seeing them! Have a great day!

They are still too young for coffee, but Cameron took the coffee canister off the counter and poured it on the floor! Grandma had to get a picture and then they got to help clean up the mess!

Getting into Grandpa Bud's lunchbox!
